NW Works in Profile: Jeremy Gorman
Meet Jeremy! Jeremy joined NW Works in August as the Director of Facilities, Business, and Government Services. As a former therapist at Grafton Integrated Health Network and a Care Coordinator with Magellan Health, Jeremy has a solid background in supporting individuals with disabilities.
Jeremy began his dive into the human services field on the Eastern Shore, where he mentored students in a Therapeutic Interventions program within the school system. Before coming to Winchester & NW Works, Jeremy took on many roles ranging from disability services to craftsmanship, historic preservation, and renovations. His experiences in these fields lent themselves well to his current role overseeing our warehouse operations and its collaboration with our Programs team. During COVID, Jeremy also ventured into contract work with Twitch streamers who were looking for managerial guidance. Jeremy provided the basics to the Twitch streamers to ensure the contracts they were signing were appropriate and fit their best interests; similar to what Jeremy now works through with our government contracts through the AbilityOne Program.
Jeremy was introduced to NW Works while working at Grafton, where he collaborated with the organization to help students in his care transition into the workface. After working with NW Works for several years, Jeremy’s interest was piqued and strengthened through a tour of our campus. This tour highlighted the impactful work being done and solidified Jeremy’s desire to be a part of our growing team.
In his role at NW Works, Jeremy appreciates the creative freedom he has to determine which businesses might fit best with our current needs, and how the Programs and Business Services teams can work together to make dreams a reality for many of our clients who are interested in working. Jeremy’s favorite part of the job so far is his ability to form relationships with businesses who are eager to employ the people we serve, and his satisfaction in seeing a project completed.
For those interested in joining NW Works, Jeremy emphasizes the importance of engaging with the individuals we serve. Understanding their needs and strengths is crucial for creating a supportive environment.
Outside of work, Jeremy is dedicated to spending quality time with his family. An avid traveler, Jeremy and his wife embarked on a cross-country road trip in 2012, were they camped across about 30 states. These adventures have deepened his appreciation for community and connection, specifically within the Northern Shenandoah Valley region.
