NW Works in Profile: Tina Maseda
Meet Tina! Tina is celebrating her first-year work anniversary with us next month! Tina serves as the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Case Manager. In her role, Tina works with several of our local Department of Social Services as an extra resource. She can help people find jobs, create or update their resume and cover letter, and practice the interview process. Tina is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida but moved to Berkeley Spring, West Virginia 3 years ago. Tina had always worked in the Department of Social Services but wanted a more hands-on way of helping people. Drawn to NW Works because of her desire to help people, Tina has made an impact on both the adults with disabilities we serve, and adults with barriers to employment in our region.
Tina’s favorite part of working at NW Works is interacting with the individuals we support and using her free time to help around the building. Tina’s office is at NW Works’ campus, so she interacts with individuals in our Day Support program and with clients from TANF. For Tina, the most rewarding part of her job is when an individual learns a new skill. The “aha” moment makes Tina’s job incredibly rewarding. As TANF Case Manager, Tina feels most rewarded when a client calls her in excitement to say they’ve secured a job. For individuals interested in working at NW Works, Tina remarked on the welcoming and fun environment she experiences every day. “We’re accepting and our team is just great. Come in and be yourself and you’ll find what you’re looking for here at NW Works.” Outside of work, Tina enjoys horseback riding, hiking and cooking.
