NW Works in Profile: Kristin Elliott

Kristin Elliott

Meet Kristin! Kristin hails from Milford, Delaware where she previously worked as the Vice President of Operations and Director of Programs at Kent-Sussex Industries, a disability services organization like NW Works. Kristin joins NW Works as our Director of Programs during a time of expansion and growth. With the upcoming waiver slots being open for adults in our region with disabilities, NW Works anticipates a higher volume of individuals in need of support services. Kristin, as the Director of Programs, will be responsible for leading our Group Day Support program with the highest quality of services for adults with disabilities looking to maximize their independence.

Joining the Human Services field was a no-brainer for Kristin as she knew she always wanted to help people and had a support-driven mentality. Her goals were aligned with assisting people, and that facilitated her entrance into the daycare business. During her stint as a Medical Daycare worker, Kristin was approached by a friend who encouraged her to switch roles and work with adults with disabilities to support their development in daily life and general skills. Kristin joined Kent-Sussex Industries and climbed the ranks after 16 years of employment to cycle through roles as their Program Manager, Assistant Program Director, and later becoming the Program Director and Assistant Vice President of Operations. Kristin has plentiful experience in disability services and has headed transportation, admissions, and programming.

At NW Works, Kristin’s role will be pivotal in our Group Day Support program as we continue on our mission of empowering adults with disabilities and supporting them on their journey toward independence. Kristin hopes to continue building relationships with organizations in our community that will ensure adults with disabilities are connected, supported and ingrained in their communities. Kristin greatly values fostering a sense of belonging for the individuals she supports and intends to elevate this value for individuals receiving services from NW Works.

During Kristin’s first few weeks at NW Works she has been connecting with our team, developing relationships with the people we serve, and meeting with community-based organizations who are pivotal to our operations. Kristin’s outlook on disability services is greatly focused on impact and the people she’s able to support. Despite being the newest addition to the NW Works team, Kristin has caught on quickly; it’s all about the people here. Kristin remarked she knew from the beginning of her career that she wouldn’t find a more rewarding occupation. As Kristin stated, going to work means something to us as staff members, but even more it means something to the people we support and its significance in their lives for unlocking passions, building skills, and encouraging relationships inside and outside of NW Works.

In Kristin’s personal time she enjoys spending time with her family, who mean everything to her. Kristin is also a nature lover who delights in being outside and taking scenic motorcycle rides with her husband.
